Six managers remain from the last century

Just six managers of football league clubs remain in charge from the last century.

In his Independent column Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock reveals that he is one of them. (However it may only be five as Dario Gradi has moved upstairs - ed.)

Sam Allardyce's departure from Bolton leaves just six of us survivors from doing the same job in the 20th century. As well as Alex Ferguson, Arsène Wenger and myself in the Premier League there's Dario Gradi, who's been at Crewe forever, plus two men who have brought their club in from non-League: Graham Turner (Hereford) and John Coleman (Accrington Stanley).

Six is not many out of 92, but then expectations are so high.
