Graham Turner has spoken to the Official Site about the new signings:
On John McCombe: "He comes highly recommended from our people in the North West, also the people at Huddersfield. One or two felt he was unlucky not to be offered a new contract."
On Kris Taylor: "Somebody I've had my eye on for quite some time. I remember him playing for Burton Albion against us, scoring. He did train with us for a day 12-18 months ago."
On Karl Broadhurst: "Experienced central defender. Good character, strong in the dressing room, certainly a winner on the field. His character references have been first class. He's seen the specialist, had an MRI scan, CT scan, the reports (on the required medical) look like they're going to be positive."
On more signings: "I would think we've probably got six or eight things on the go at the moment. Signing players now is not straightforward - John McCombe we first met in early June. I also wouldn't rule out the prospect of maybe bringing in one or two players on loan from big clubs. I'd like to get the squad settled as soon as possible. What we've had come into the club so far I'm very pleased with."
On a player-coach: "We had one specific player in mind we were hoping to entice into the club. Very experienced player, full international. He's taking coaching badges, it would have given him some practical experience. He's just left a Championship club but he will be signing for a bigger club than us."
On Marcus Palmer, Jordan Fitzpatrick, and Sam Gwynne: "We originally offered them three months. I think it was slightly unfair so we extended it to six months. All three are going quite well of what we've seen so far, but they've got a bit to prove."
On Dean Beckwith: "Dean's done well for us over the last two years. We gave him the choice of a one or two year deal, and he chose one year. He's making steady progress as a player and has a lot of potential still."
