Bradford have signed strikers Peter Thorne and Barry Conlon on free transfers. Thorne, 35, had been released by Norwich, while Conlon was released by Mansfield. Brentford have added former Walsall utility man Craig Pead on a free transfer.
Chester have named former Tranmere keeper Gavin Ward as their new player/coach on a two year deal. Ward joins his 15th club after a 12 month spell at Prenton Park. Mansfield have tied defender Alex-John Baptiste to a new deal until 2010 after a move to Crewe stalled over the £300,000 asking price.
Accrington have signed defender Mark Roberts on a free transfer from Northwich. The former Crewe man only joined Northwich in January after leaving Gresty Road. Shrewsbury sold over 600 season tickets during their first day on sale, and expect to beat last season's total of 1,600.
Bury have denied reports that the Shrews have had an offer for Marc Pugh accepted. The player has agreed to the move south, but the clubs have been at odds over a fee. Both clubs note a fee of around £30,000 plus clauses, but Bury have denied that the deal is done and want more for the youngster. Rochdale have signed forward Adam Le Fondre from Stockport for an undisclosed fee. The 20 year old scored four times in seven games during a loan spell at Spotland last season.
