Turner lays the foundations

Graham Turner has started to rebuild his Hereford United for the forthcoming season with the announcement of three new signings on the Official webpages, and the news that defender Dean Beckwith has signed a new one year deal at Edgar Street. This will be welcome news to supporters, many of whom were anxious about the lack of news regarding players from Hereford.

Karl Broadhurst is a central defender who has signed from Bournemouth, and will be looking to establish himself alongside Dean Beckwith at the heart of United's defence this season. He he stands at six foot one and made 176 appearances in eight years at Bournemouth. However, six foot two John McCombe, who has been recruited following his release from Huddersfield, will be providing competition as a central defender himself. McCombe is the junior of the two centre backs at twenty two years of age, while Broadhurst is twenty seven.

The third player is twenty two year old Kris Taylor - a left sided player who can play in both defence and midfield. Taylor was a youngster at Manchester United. Bulls fans may well remember facing Taylor, who lined up against United in a loan spell at Burton Albion in the 04/05 season, and netted in the 3-0 defeat. BurtonAlbion.com wrote about him, "Despite only playing half a dozen games for the Brewers, Kris Taylor will probably be regarded as one of the best players in the clubs history. He joined the club on loan from Walsall after impressing Nigel Clough by scoring two goals for the Saddlers in a Birmingham Senior Cup match at Eton Park. "

Taylor told the same website that he preferred playing in midfield rather than at the back, where he had been playing in the same season at Walsall.

These latest additions takes Hereford's squad size up to eleven.
