Former Hereford United goalkeeper Glyn Thompson put paid to Cardiff City's hope of winning the Welsh Cup this evening.
Thompson, in goal for Newport County, pulled off the only save of a penalty shoot out to take his side through to the final after the teams were level at 1-1 after extra time.
Meanwhile Shrewsbury Town have recruited Caersws's Andy Mulliner to become their new goal-keeping coach.
Mulliner, aged 37, will coach Slop's two senior keepers Glyn Garner and Scott Bevan with two sessions per week. He also holds a session each week at Kidderminster.
Finally League Two leaders MK Dons defeated League One leaders Swansea City 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium this evening in the Paint Trophy Southern Area final first leg. The second game is next Monday and the final on March 30th which will be against either Grimsby or Morecambe whose game was postponed.
If MK Dons get to the final, Hereford United's visit to their new stadium will need to be re-arranged as it is due to take place on March 29th.
