Grimsby beaten by Northampton

Hereford United are that little bit closer to safety this evening after Grimsby Town were defeated by Northampton 2-1.

The maximum points the Mariners can now get is 52, eight more than the Bulls' current total. The Bulls could be mathematically safe by the end of the Easter weekend if they beat both Barnet and Darlington and the Mariners lose at Accrington on Monday.

In today's other League Two match Morecambe staged an excellent comeback to defeat Crewe 4-3. At one stage the Railwaymen were leading 3-1.

In the Conference Oxford lost 2-1 at Hayes and Yeading, leaving them eight points off the top with just six games left.

At the bottom of League One Tranmere moved two points clear of the drop zone with a referee assisted 3-1 win over Norwich. Exeter also moved clear, by four points, with a 2-0 win over Colchester.
