Gavin McCallum admitted that Burton had fought harder than Hereford after the Bulls had gone into a 3-1 lead this afternoon against Burton.
"We got the goals," McCallum told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "It was 3-1, then defensive errors again.
"I think the boys just thought that we had won already and we hadn't and we just weren't fighting.
"They were fighting harder.
"We gave a foul away in the corner when we shouldn't have."

Hereford United manager John Trewick wasn't a happy manager after his side managed to turn a 3-1 lead into a 4-3 defeat. To rub salt in the wound former Bull Tony James scored the winning goal.
"I'm furious about the way we've gone about our work after going three one up," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"We've allowed them to score within thirty seconds of the restart.
"Absolutely criminal - it can only be concentration and application that's all it can be. We've kept three clean sheets and conceded four in one match.
"It's unacceptable as far as I'm concerned and everybody is in tomorrow morning.
"We were 3-1 but then within thirty seconds they had got a goal back. That gave them an extra spring in their step, extra momentum and a bit more belief.
"Then another free kick was given - I don't know if it was deliberate hand-ball (by Darren Jones), I'll have to have a look at it, I'm not sure.
"He's put in good delivery and they've equalised from a set-piece.
"And the last one again another set-piece disappointing.
"Thirty seconds to go and we've just got to see the game out. We give a needless free-kick away in the corner and allow them once more to put the ball in on top of us.
"We really have to play with a bit more thought.
"We've lost a game we should never have lost. We should have taken at least a point and probably all three.
"I think at 3-1 the players thought the game was finished and we've had a rude awakening from that."

Rochdale extend their lead at the top to five points with a 3-1 win over Dagenham. With Bury moving second last night, Bournemouth missed the chance to retake the place with a 1-1 home draw with Macclesfield only moving them level on points with the Shakers. Notts County drew 1-1 at Aldershot to hold on to the last play-off place, with Accrington cutting the gap to two points with a 2-0 win over Bradford. Crewe halted Northampton's rise up the table with a 3-2 win over the Cobblers.
At the bottom Darlington threw away a two goal lead in the last ten minutes to lose 3-2 to Chesterfield. The Quakers are now 13 points from safety after Cheltenham beat Morecambe 2-0 to move above Torquay. Grimsby and Lincoln drew 2-2 to move the Mariners within five points of the Gulls. Barnet won 2-0 at Port Vale to move above the Bulls into 16th place.
In the Conference none of the major players were in league action. Top game of the day was AFC Wimbledon's 2-1 win at Luton that moved the Dons within two points of the play-offs. In the FA Trophy Kidderminster beat Oxford 2-1 to reach the semi-finals. Joining them in the semis are Salisbury and Stevenage.
Set Pieces Foil Bulls Again
The Bulls lost today's League Two match at Edgar Street 4-3 to Burton Albion.
Given the goals it was an entertaining game, but it should have also been three points for the Bulls until their inability to defend set pieces reared it's head again. From 3-1 up, with goals from Marc Pugh, Kenny Lunt, and James McQuilkin, they ended the game conceding a late, late Tony James header to hand the points to the Brewers.
A healthier gate of 2,252, with 310 from Staffordshire, were well entertained with a game that produced 28 shots.

Game on at Edgar Street
This afternoon's game at Edgar Street is on according to the club.
Temperatures dropped to around -2C last night and there was some slight snowfall in the area.
But, as at 10.15am, the sun is out and temperatures have risen above freezing.
Bailey moves to Eastwood
Mat Bailey, who had a spell on loan with Hereford United several seasons ago, has moved from cash-strapped Northwich to Eastwood. It even appears that a fee might have been paid.
"I have been interested in Mat for some time, he has attracted attention from some very high profile clubs following Northwich’s excellent FA Cup run," said Eastwood manager Paul Cox.
"Despite agreeing a deal with Northwich, we then had to wait a couple of weeks to discuss terms with Mat as Watford were having a look at the player, which clearly would have been a no brainer for the lad. Although Mat can also play as a target man up front, I have brought him here as a defender because I think he is one of the best centre backs at this level, and at 23, he will continue to get better."
Bailey made five Conference appearances for the Bulls in the 2005/06 season and scored one goal.
Come and Support the Bulls This Afternoon
There's nothing like the real thing says the advert. And there's nothing like watching football live at the ground.
So, if at all possible, why not come along to Edgar Street this afternoon and support the Bulls.
They are hoping to register their fourth home win on the bounce and even the bookies are suggesting that's quite likely.
In their last three home games the Bulls have defeated Lincoln, Torquay and Aldershot. Today it's Burton.
Another win for the Bulls could even give John Trewick the chance of being in the running for manager of the month. Something few supporters would have envisaged even a week or two ago. Admittedly there are two further matches to play this month, at home against Northampton and away at Notts County, but on current form it's not impossible the Bulls could take at least four points from them.
It's often said that support from fans is as good as an extra man on the pitch, so why not be part of that extra man this afternoon.
It has to be better than sitting in an armchair. In any case the club could do with the money!

No.3 In February
The Bulls are the third best side in League Two on February's form so far.
Only Bury and Shrewsbury have better form than the Bulls during the shortest month, with Bury winning the extra game they've played more than the Bulls and the Shrews ahead only by conceding one less goal.
February is the best month by far for the Bulls this season, with the current nine point haul overtaking October's eight points from five games.
The Bulls face three more games in the month, with tomorrow's home match against Burton followed by entertaining Northampton before travelling to Notts County.
Bulls News would also like to note that Guy Bumfrey, the person reported missing on Wednesday, has been found safe and well.
Bury defeat Shrewsbury
Wayne Brown's Bury defeated Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in this evening's top League Two clash.
Bury are now in second position whilst Shrewsbury, who have played more games than all the other clubs around them, are in sixth place.
In the other game played this evening Rotherham (4th) drew 1-1 with lowly Torquay (21st).
Cheltenham Tickets On Sale
Hereford United make the short trip to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday March 2nd and tickets for supporters are available from Edgar Street.
No tickets will be available on the day of the match.
Meanwhile, in other club related news, shareholders are reminded that the Hereford United AGM is set to take place next Thursday, February 25th, at the Three Counties Hotel, Belmont, Hereford.
The meeting will commence at 7pm.
Finally the club has reported that they are very pleased with the initial take up of subscribers to Bulls Player and the flow of traffic to the website in general has been superb.

HUISA have announced details of their coach travel to Nottingham next Saturday the 27th February.
The fare will be £16 with departure set for 10.30 am from Radford’s.

No Signings Imminent says Trewick
Given that the Bulls have taken nine points from the last twelve, manager John Trewick looks as though he has decided not to go into the loan market for fresh players for the time being.
"There's nothing imminent," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"We've done pretty well of late and I want to see whether we can continue doing that.
"Obviously I've got one or two options and one or two interesting things just bubbling under the surface but sometimes things that you think are going to come to fruition don't.
"I've got a few things in the background and if neccessary we'll try to make one or two things happen."
Brewers Back To Basics
Burton boss Paul Peschisolido has blamed himself for their recent dip in form, and will go back to basics for the game at Edgar Street.
The Brewers had earned 13 points from 15 before suffering back to back defeats against Morecambe and Crewe, and Peschisolido believes that he has overloaded his team with 'too much information', telling the Derby Telegraph he had overcomplicated his instructions to the team during their loss at Morecambe:
"We found ourselves 2-1 up, which we shouldn't have been, and I was hoping we'd take the initiative in the second half and play on that but it wasn't meant to be. But blame me – maybe I gave them too much to take in about being more solid and not flying forward.
"We wanted that but we don't want it to mean the midfield sitting five yards in front of the back four and letting their mdfield come at us in the gaps."
Peschisolido also expressed his frustration at a midweek reserves loss to Shrewsbury: "After we'd lost two on the bounce, one or two should have been busting to show me I should pick them for Hereford but, really, only Jimmy Phillips came out of a flat performance with much credit."
Meanwhile defender Paul Boertien has told the Burton Mail that they can still make the play-offs despite the two losses: "We've got two more tough games but there’s no point sulking about it and getting down about it, we've got to go and beat Hereford on Saturday.
Your confidence is never good when you lose games but I think the lads' confidence is high because we've been winning games. Obviously it does take a knock when you lose but we've just got to put that behind us."
News Round Up
Further to yesterday's news, the Conference have issued a statement on Chester. They have called a meeting of clubs to vote on Chester's expulsion from the league for failing to fulfil two fixtures against Forest Green and Wrexham. The club admitted guilt on all five charges placed before them, with the meeting and vote date still to be determined.
Torquay have signed Swindon winger Lloyd Macklin on a months loan. The 18 year old has a string of sub appearances for the Robins this term, and two starts. The Gulls are also claimed to be interested in signing Notts County's former Bulls loanee Ade Akinbiyi. The veteran forward is currently fourth choice striker for the cash strapped Magpies. Darlington are to cut season ticket prices next season regardless of whether they stay up or not.
Stockport's fans have called off a protest march against former owner Brian Kennedy, after bidder Jim Melrose told them he wasn't the reason for the ongoinging failure of his bid. Melrose has agreed a two year deal with Kennedy for the use of Edgeley Park, but the club plan to leave the ground after. Given that information, the Football League's refusal to sanction the sale is probably down to the uncertainty over the ground after two years.
Northwich have been fined by the Conference for defaulting on payments to their football creditors. They have been fined £2,500, and will be deducted ten points and fined a further £7,500 if they do not pay all football creditors by the end of March. Chesterfield have signed winger Simon Whaley on a deal until the end of the season. He was released by Norwich in January after loan spells with Bradford and Rochdale.
Notts County striker Luke Rodgers has been fined £4,000 after admitting affray and running from Police after being arrested during a bar fight in September. Ebbsfleet need at least 2,500 of 4,200 MyFC subscribers to renew when their subscriptions expire at the end of this week. Boss Liam Daish told a fans forum his entire squad is out of contract at the end of the season.

Sickness Bug affects Bulls
In an effort to contain a sickness bug which has affected some of the Hereford United squad, two players were sent home yesterday.
Manager John Trewick is hopeful the bug won't spread any further as he could be short of fit players for the game against Burton tomorrow.
It is understood that Craig King, who missed last Tuesday's match against Aldershot, is one of the players who has had the bug.
Meanwhile former Bull, Richard Jackson, is one Burton Albion player unlikely to feature tomorrow. He has a groin injury. Also out are Steve Kabba and Russell Penn.
Concern Grows over Gate Receipts at Edgar Street
As mentioned yesterday on this site, concern is growing about recent poor attendances at Edgar Street. Compared with just twelve months ago gates are down by a worrying 32%. The League Two average is down by 10%.
Last season the average gate was 3270. This was boosted by some very good away followings.
This season to date the average is 2239. The fact that several Saturday games were postponed hasn't helped.
Of the previously postponed games which have been played on Tuesdays recently, the gate has dropped to under 1500.

Hereford United manager John Trewick admitted to BBC Hereford and Worcester that whilst he accepted Tuesday night games didn't attract as many supporters, he was very concerned with the current numbers.
"They haven't been particularily good nights weather-wise to come out and with attractive matches on the TV," said Trewick.
"The financial times that we are living in mean it is very difficult for people to keep forking out.
"Obviously the gates being as low as they are is a concern.
"We can only progress if we have the financial means to do so."
Conference Fail To Pull Chester Trigger
Chester's fate has been put on ice for another seven days with the Conference again shying away from booting out the club.
Saturday's opponents Histon have made the only official announcement so far, confirming that their match has been postponed after the Conference 'upheld the suspension of Chester City'. Press reports suggest that the phones at the Deva Stadium have also now been cut off.
The Conference is seemingly preferring to delay until someone else, likely the taxman, pulls the trigger on the club. As it stands the players remain unpaid, home games are at the mercy of the Police, and away matches will only happen if the coach company is paid.
Missing Person - Can You Help?
Hereford man Guy Bumfrey left work in Rotherwas at 10am on Wednesday and hasn't been seen since. Guy is 37 and 6ft tall. Family and friends of Guy have tried all methods to contact or locate him since. Preview: Bulls vs Burton
The Bulls entertain Burton Albion in the Football League for the first time on Saturday.
The two sides have met at Edgar Street during four Conference seasons, and one FA Trophy game in 2001. The Bulls have won three of the five games, drawing one and losing one. Ex-Bull Tony James, now committed to the Brewers, has twice scored penalties for the Bulls against the club formerly known as Nigel Clough's Burton Albion. Earlier this season the teams met at the Pirelli Stadium, with Leon Constantine twice levelling for the Bulls but the Brewers won 3-2 with a late Aaron Webster goal.
The Bulls' home record now reads three straight wins, and no goals conceded for 311 minutes, but the lack of enthusiasm for the Bulls continues around Edgar Street. With another low gate in midweek, the Bulls have now seen their average attendance fall by 980 on last season's total. The 32% drop is far greater than Graham Turner envisaged in the summer, and something needs to be done to stop the apathy that has spread despite picking up much needed wins. Next week's AGM, and last season's financial results, may shed some light on the current financial situation at the club in the wake of the hefty drop in income.
When Nigel Clough departed the club, Burton's fairytale rise to the Football League almost shuddered to a halt. They won just one of their final seven games last term to limp over the line on the final day. Tipped by many for a quick return, rookie boss Paul Peschisolido has reshaped the squad that struggled early in the season and put them into a comfortable mid-table position. Seven of the side fielded in their last match at Morecambe didn't play for the club in the Conference.

Minutes Silence For Daniel Cooper
Hereford United will hold a minutes silence for Lance Corporal Daniel Cooper, who died in Afghanistan in January, before Saturday's match with Burton.
The MOD website carries this on Daniel: Lance Corporal Cooper was born in Hereford on 10 March 1988. He went to Whitecross High School before enlisting and going to the Army Training Regiment in Bassingbourn in 2005 for his Phase One training. He received Phase Two training at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick and joined 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry in Edinburgh in 2006.
Lance Corporal Cooper deployed with A Company, 3 RIFLES, to Afghanistan in October 2009 and was operating in southern Sangin. Following the injury to his section second-in-command he was promoted to Lance Corporal in the field on 21 December 2009 and stepped up to fill this role.
On 24 January 2010, he was leading a resupply patrol when an improvised explosive device detonated, critically injuring him. He later died of his wounds.

News Round Up
Notts County have loaned midfielder Johnnie Jackson to Charlton for a month, saying the player wanted to move back to the London area for family reasons. They have denied they are under pressure to reduce the wage bill despite Jackson being a regular this term. Lincoln are trialling Hinckley full back Connor Franklin. The 22 year old is joined on trial by Hungarian keeper Mateus Esterhazy.
If Chester do get kicked out of the Conference, Oxford will extend their lead at the top to six points but lose their game in hand over Stevenage. Forest Green would fall three points further into the drop zone, but Kidderminster's gap to the play-offs would remain unchanged. Accrington's supporters coach that travelled to Lincoln on Tuesday night can under attack from a group of youths after the game. Windows were smashed, causing £1,500 of damage.
Macclesfield have signed Francois Kompany, younger brother of Man City's Vincent, on contract until the end of the season. The 20 year old left sided utility player has previously played for a couple of Belgian sides.

Select Group Referee at Edgar Street on Saturday
Mike Jones from Cheshire is set to referee this coming Saturday's League Two fixture at Edgar Street where Hereford United take on Burton Albion.
Jones is a Select Group referee who was promoted to officiate in the Premiership last season. Recently he has been in charge of games at Manchester City and Aston Villa. Earlier this season he has been the man in the middle at both Chelsea and Arsenal.
The last time Jones came to Edgar Street was in August 2007 for a Carling Cup match against Yeovil which the Bulls won 4-1. That was the evening of the famous Lionel Ainsworth hat-trick. The previous season he was in charge of a League Two match against Hartlepool which the Bulls also won.
To date this campaign he has refereed 23 games and dealt out 80 yellow and 3 red cards.
Grimsby Hold Magpies
Grimsby drew 1-1 with Notts County at Meadow Lane in tonight's only League Two game.
Forward Jamie Devitt, signed in the afternoon on loan from Hull, scored the Mariners' goal after Lee Hughes had given the Magpies an early lead. Hughes was later sent off for a second booking.
The Mariners move within five points of safety, and Cheltenham, having now played a game more than the Robins.
From the Archives - Snapper joins the Bulls
With the news that John Snape has left Bromsgrove Rovers as manager, BN looks back to an article from the Sports Argus in May 1998 when Snapper joined the Bulls.
JOHN Snape today revealed how he had to let his head rule his heart and join Hereford United.
The combative midfielder ended a six seasons stay with Dr Martens Premier Halesowen Town to join Graham Turner's Bulls.
Snape, a crowd favourite and the Yeltz skipper, admitted it had been one of the toughest decisions in his football career. But the lure of playing in the Vauxhall Conference had proved irresistible.
"I'm 29 now and I want the chance to play at the highest level," said Snape.
"I've loved my time at Halesowen and I would have loved to have led them into the Conference. To leave them is a big wrench.
"But if I had said `no' to Hereford I might never have have the chance again.
"I had offers to go before but I let my heart rule my head. This time, I had to think I might never have the chance again."
Earlier in his Yeltz career, Snape had turned down a move to Hednesford while Bromsgrove, then in the Conference, had also been keen on him.
The Pitmen decision had been particularly ironic.
"Hednesford came in for me but I stayed loyal to John Morris, who was the manager at the time. John was going through a torrid time," recalled Snape.
"But two days later he was sacked!"
One-time Albion apprentice Snape, who joined Halesowen from Stourbridge, had been out of contract at the Grove, and like team-mate Stuart Evans, joins the Bulls on a free transfer.
Burton Albion and Worcester City had also been keen to recruit him but the it was the level of football, rather than any monetary deals, which persuaded him Hereford was the right club.
"This is a new beginning for me. I'm starting afresh and I've got to prove myself on a different stage," said Snape, who will remain part-time.
"Mr Turner wants to take the club back into the League and if I could help Hereford achieve that, it would be brilliant."
Snape Leaves Bromsgrove
John Snape's first taste of management has ended with the news that he has left Bromsgrove Rovers.
With the club in Administration, prospective owner Mike Ward has issued a statement that the two parties had 'parted company with immediate effect'. Bromsgrove are currently in the midst of a power struggle with the majority of fans siding towards local consortium Bromsgrove Sporting, who are starting their own club, rather than Ward's continuation of the existing club.
Meanwhile Shrewsbury have signed veteran striker Jamie Cureton on loan from Norwich for the rest of the season. The 35 year old Bristolian has scored more than 200 goals in a 17 year professional career.

Luck on Bulls Side for Once
Giving his reaction to last night's 2-0 victory over Aldershot, John Trewick admitted that luck had played a part in the proceedings.
"It was pretty even until we got the first goal," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"They had possible shaded it in terms of possession.
"But up popped Gavin and stuck the first in and Marc Pugh went on a great run, put the ball in the danger area.
"We got a little bit lucky, we were due a bit of luck with the own goal.
"But if he hadn't gone on the run, hadn't put the ball in the box then it wouldn't have happened.
"Just as importantly was the clean sheet, I'm delighted with it."
For Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon:
"First half inept, second half a little bit better.
"I think Hereford won't believe their luck tonight with the goals that we've conceded. They were very poor. Very disappointing."
DOGGED VICTORY FOR BULLS
Some amusing pre-match entertainment, a period of comical defending from the visitors and another Edgar Street goal from Gavin McCallum were the highlights of this evening’s comfortable victory against an Aldershot side whose poor showing belied their position on the verges of the play-offs.
It would be pleasant to report that the silky skills and ability to evade a challenge were attributes of a new loan signing rather than the canine, determined to have his day and to delay kick off time by a full 5 minutes. An impressive pincer movement by two stewards eventually captured the intruder, and the footballing fun could begin.
Apart from forcing a couple of early corners, which came to nought, the Bulls started cagily. Meanwhile, the lively Marvin “Marvellous” Morgan looked dangerous for the Shots. Anthony Charles did well to meet a corner but his header cleared the crossbar. Marc Pugh made a couple of rapid breaks, but the final shot/cross lacked accuracy. Leon Constantine telegraphed a pass which was intercepted by Ben Herd, who appears to have tried to personalise his shirt so that it reads HERO. He embarked on a marauding run right into the United box before the danger was snuffed out.
On 27 minutes, the Bulls unexpectedly took the lead. Sam Gwynne played a long ball into the area, and Darren Jones and Constantine worked it to Gavin McCallum, who Aldershot had neglected to mark. The home side’s danger man composed himself before firing home his fourth goal in the last three home games. The goal acted as a confidence booster as Hereford tried to increase their advantage. The hirsute Chris Blackburn and stopper Stephen Henderson almost contrived to let McCallum in again, leaving a clearance to each other. Not quite of Delap proportions, but Marc Pugh’s long throw caused more jitters from the visitors. Then on 35 minutes, Pugh picked up the ball on the right, squirmed between two defenders and fired in a low cross. A desperate attempt to clear by the hapless Blackburn saw the ball loop over his own keeper and into the net.
Hereford finished the half in the ascendancy, Pugh, Constantine and James McQuilkin finding Gwynne on the overlap and his teasing first-time cross was booted to safety, whilst a soft shoe shuffle and shot from Andy Sandell was the only threat from the Shots.

Aldershot emerged from the interval with a little more purpose, with Anthony Straker becoming more influential and creative. Scott Donnelly played an excellent ball through to Morgan, who snatched at his shot and cleared the bar by some distance. James McQuilkin was exemplary in his decision making, holding up when required and releasing accurately to create openings. One glorious switch of play played McCallum in, but his cross was cleared, and then Pugh was the beneficiary of another pass- again, the effort was blocked.
An enterprising move down the right involving McQuilkin, Constantine and Pugh almost led to a further goal. Pugh cut the ball back for Kenny Lunt whose goal bound attempt was deflected for a corner. Aldershot were still not producing much of a threat, with Adam Bartlett not being called into action. The arrival, two days late, of a Valentine Card (a justified yellow for Ryan) led to a free kick, from which Anthony Charles glanced a header narrowly wide. At the other end, McQuilkin fed Matty Done who crossed for McCallum. He laid it back for Lunt but once more his shot was cleared for a corner. From this , Mathieu Manset could not get over the ball to keep it below the bar. Despite some anxiety from a meagre crowd, recalling the two late goals conceded in the reverse fixture, the Bulls held on with some comfort for a deserved victory, a third home clean sheet in a row, and the dizzy heights of 16th place.

Council to fine Owners Of Lost Dogs
Herefordshire Council have decided to change their stray dog policy so as they can fine the owners.
"It is only right that responsible dog owners and non dog owners do not disproportionately fund, through their taxes, a service that has to be provided because of the actions of a minority," said a spokesperson for the Council.
The new rule is timely as a stray dog, possibly a huskie, managed to get onto the Edgar Street pitch this evening just as the game was about to start.
It is not known whether the dog paid at the gate.
