Neil Mackenzie has been released by Scunthorpe, their official site has confirmed today.
The midfielder played seven times for the Bulls in a two month loan spell at the end of 2006, and appeared to have played his way back into manager Nigel Adkins' plans as he became a regular started for the League One champions during March and April.
Mackenzie, 31, has played over 250 games for the likes of Scunthorpe, Cambridge, and Mansfield. Meanwhile, fellow loanee John Eustace is believed to be considering a new contract with Stoke City and Stephen Jennings is still contracted to Tranmere for another 12 months. The other loan players this season, Steve Guinan and Scott Tynan, have already been released by their clubs.
