Bury Pocket £1million From Nugent Sell-On

Bury will pocket nearly £1.2million from their 20% clause after David Nugent was sold by Preston.

The £6million deal will see Bury pay off the mortgage on their ground and leave the Lancashire club virtually debt free after years of wise spending. Director Ian Harrop told the press: "As we've said, the cash will be spent on the mortgage for the ground and the club will then be virtually debt-free.

"We obviously want to field as strong a first-team as possible but we won't be going on a spending spree because there is a budget in place. There may be some leeway but we want to strengthen every part of the club so we can bring more David Nugents through."
