Turner to start spending transfer budget

Hereford United have taken Workington Red's goalkeeper Adam Colin on a trial after the departure of back up 'keeper Glynn Thompson last season. Should Colin secure a deal with at Edgar Street he will play understudy to first choice shot stopper Wayne Brown.

Colin was a youngster a Newcastle United, where he was highly rated, but was unable to push into the first team, before joining Workington of the Conference North. He is still under contract at his current club though, and therefore it is likely that a fee would be needed if Graham Turner is to recruit the non-league goalie.

Reds spokesman Alec Graham said, "We would like to keep Adam. He’s a very good goalkeeper, but as we have said to all our players, if a Football League club comes in for them, we will not stand in their way.”

In his first season at Workington he soon established himself as the number one and went on to concede just thirty goals in forty two games. At the end of the season he became a hero at the club as The Reds won promotion following a 6-5 penalty shoot out victory against Farsley Celtic, in which he saved three spot kicks.

Hereford aren't the only legue club to have expressed interest in the twenty two year old, with Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday having previously tracked him and more recently Carlisle United.
