Players Started To Tire Said Foyle

Hereford United lost their third pre-season friendly this afternoon to a competent young West Brom side but Bulls manger Martin Foyle felt one of the reasons was tiredness in his squad.

"Our lads have just got to that two week barrier and they are starting to tire a little bit," Foyle told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Nothing I didn't expect.

"One or two have got little niggles."

Foyle then talked about some of the trialists and players.

"I've had (Michael) Rankin (pictured above) before as a player. I know what he can do.

"He certainly gives you that little bit of physical presence which you do need in this league.

"I thought Sam Smith played well. He got into certain good positions.

"Rod Mcdonald pulled out before the game. Don Collins was sick all last night and we had to take Chris Bush off just to be precautionary.

"This is why I don't like pre-season. I've to be so careful with personal.

"Dan Walker has a tight hamstring.

"Just get this week out of the way. We've got a week without a game which is quite nice so we can concentrate on a few things as first half crossing and finishing was poor, the corners were poor."

It wasn't all gloom.

"We created a few chances. We had two perfectly good goals cancelled for offside. We hit the bar a couple of times.

"But the pitch was very dry.

"We decided to keep it dry today, it's a new surface and we've got to protect it.

"For Torquay next week I'll get some water on it and we'll get that ball zipping around a lot better."
