Purdie Talks Darlington

Rob Purdie has spoken to BBC Tees about his move to Darlington:

"(Dave Penney) told me a bit about the club, the aspirations that they've got and the team he's trying to get together. We had a mutual friend that I spoke to about the gaffer and he swayed me towards the decision to come up here.

"Obviously the club wants to go places. This season we're going to be looking for automatic promotion. That was a big thing for me. I don't know really how far Hereford will go this season. This is a chance for me to push on in my own career as well as being part of a successful team.

"You can go to any training ground in League Two and everyone's going to have a good squad, passing the ball around and everything. But it's on matchday - you've got to have that work ethic. Got to work hard, that's the main difference. The difference with this team is that everyone seems to want to put in that 100% effort and if you can get that effort with team morale and footballing ability then you've got a team that can go up.

"You need a team that is going to work hard no matter whether it's a nice day in Darlington, or a December night at Accrington Stanley in from of 6-700 people."
