Ford happy with result

After yesterday’s match 3-0 against Hereford, winning Gravesend & Northfleet manager Andy Ford told reporters: "This was a massive win for us. We haven’t looked out of place in any of our games yet but we needed to get something out of this match otherwise people would have felt we were going to struggle.

“I expected more from Hereford, but with the players we have, we could be a force to be reckoned with. I thought our fitness was better than theirs. As part-timers, our fitness levels say a lot about the staff at this club."

However, Monday’s opponents at Edgar Street, Morecambe lost 2-1 at home to Yeovil with boss Jim Harvey saying: "They were fitter, sharper and brighter than us and defensively we did not get a lot of joy out of them."

Those could have been Graham Turner’s words as they seemed to sum up Hereford’s display yesterday too. So both Morecambe and Hereford need to get back on track tomorrow. A good game is in prospect.

Meanwhile, some Bulls fans will be happy to learn that Forest Green Rovers’ Neil Grayson scored again yesterday – an own goal for opponents Southport!
