Ben Smith still recovering

Former Hereford United player, Ben Smith, seems unlikely to play much part in the rest of this season at Shrewsbury. He spent some time out of action when playing for the Bulls with the same type of injury.

Smith dislocated his shoulder during the 3-2 LDV Vans Trophy victory over Bournemouth at Gay Meadow and has spent this week by spending time at the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall.

"I am looking at having another week in Lilleshall in February and going to see the specialist in March," Smith told the Shropshire Star.

"Even if I get the go-ahead to return to full training then you are looking at a month in the reserves and that takes us through to the end of the season.

"It's frustrating but the last thing I want to do is rush back and ruin all the waiting.

"It is all about strengthening the shoulder at the moment and doing everything possible to make sure this doesn't happen again.

"But if the gaffer calls on me I will be ready to do what I can for the team."

Meanwhile former Hereford United player Matt Gardiner is on the move from Redditch to Worcester where he will join up with John Snape, another ex-player, who is currently caretaker manager.
