Bulls travel to Accrington in Trophy
Hereford United are once again in Cup action tomorrow afternoon when they visit the Interlink Express Stadium, where Accrington Stanley will play hosts in the F.A. Trophy. The third round tie will be a stern test for United, who have lost their past two games against Accrington, including a 2-1 defeat earlier this season in front of Sky TV cameras.
Accrington Stanley have goalkeeper John Kennedy back in contention for the game. He has been out with a broken leg so is unlikely to play for the whole game but is a definite contender for the bench. Johnathan Smith will serve the final game of a suspension. Left back Chris Butler could also return having been sidelined with an ankle injury. Meanwhile Stanley rejected a five figure bid for winger Rory Prendergast yesterday, so he should be playing this weekend.
Hereford have a few injury worries for the game, but they have bolstered the squad with the loan signing of Joe Ayinsah. Rob Purdie's hamstring strain will keep him out of the game and there are doubts over Lee Mills, Tamika Mkandawire and Mark Robinson who all have ankle problems. Andy Tretton is said to be a possibility after a back strain.
Ashley Hildred, who played his first game for United on Tuesday, is not likely to figure though. " If we decide to do any more with him he would be one for the future," Graham Turner told the Hereford Times. In fact the ex-Grimsby player has left Edgar Street for trials at an unknown club. Danny-Carey Bertram will be contending for a starting place once again following his two goals in the week and he may well be given another run out on the left wing.
The game will be a good chance for United to experiment a little, and if they win it will be a great confidence boost and may be just what the Bulls need to start them off on a good run, to push back up the table. However, it will probably not be too much of a disapointment if the Bulls go out. Accrington is a very hard place to get a result as Hereford found out earlier this season.
