NEXT AWAY GAME - SUPPORTERS XI ARE PLAYING WORCESTER AT MALVERN ON SUNDAY AUGUST 3rd AT 3.00pm

Sunday, January 30, 2005

The Aldershot fans went very quite

Two good teams battled it out at the Rec, but the better one scored twice and the other didn't.

Although totally outnumbered there was as much noise from the five hundred Hereford United supporters as the three thousand odd Shots fans for much of the game. And when David Brown's goal hit the back of the net Aldershot knew they were defeated and their fans started leaving the ground in droves.

The Southern Counties Radio presenters' summing-up at the end of the game gave a flavour of the proceedings.

"You can see how much (this win) means to the Hereford United players and their supporters. The players have gone across to the supporters on the right hand side. They are punching the air with jubilation, you would think they had won a trophy today.

"They have managed to arrest a run of three league defeats. They are back to winning ways. Aldershot's winning run has come to an end.

"We have seen a very good Hereford side here today. Very strong at the back, very solid in the middle of the park and the two strikers in Rob Purdie and Danny Carey-Bertram. And then they've got a striker like David Brown who they can bring on and score a great goal."
