The Future of Edgar Street

Hereford United's future at Edgar Street is back in the news. Graham Turner has revealed that the club has approached the Council and met with a positive response to extending the lease on the ground which has only just over ten years to run. The club needs a leasae of at least 21 years to obtain Football Foundation grants and at least ten years to get into the Football League

"We have meetings arranged with the Richardson Brothers over the next couple of weeks. It would be nice to think all three parties could get what they require from the situation but my main concern is to ensure that whatever developement takes place the football club is protected," Turner told the Hereford Times.

"The time factor is vital. We need to be getting things done like having the floodlights improved which will be very costly. We also need to be thinking of getting the Meadow End rebuilt.

"While there is still doubt whether we will stay on the exact site we are on now, it leaves us in limbo. But with our level of support, we can be a force in deciding our own fate."
