Trophy win is worth five thousand pounds

Hyde United are the visitors to Edgar Street tomorrow for the fourth round FA Trophy tie which is worth £5,000 to the winners. The Bulls will need to be wary of the Cheshire side who are currently in third place in the Unibond League.

Graham Turner, the Hereford United manager, is expected to give one or two players a much needed break before next Saturdays big Conference fixture at Barnet, but injuries still restrict the availability of players.

On the injury front Lee Mills is a big doubt and it seems unlikely that Turner will risk Adam Stansfield preferring to ensure he is fit for the Barnet game. Ryan Green is also doubtful although said to be recovering from a hamstring problem.

Andy Tretton is expected to be given at least a part of a game. He came through a reserve fixture last Wednesday with no apparent trouble. It is also probable that Graham Hyde will take Jamie Pitman's position. Pitman became a father on Wednesday.

As for Hyde United, they will be without both Phil Salt who has to serve a suspension after receiving five yellow cards and Alex Mortimer who is cup-tied. However their manager Steve Waywell will know all about Hereford United as he recently managed Leigh RMI, one of Hereford's bogie-teams.

Hyde United have reached the semi-finals of the Trophy three times. In 1988/89 they lost 4-0 (agg) to Telford United. In 1994/95 they lost 2-1 (agg) to Kidderminster Harriers and in 1995/96 they lost 3-1 (agg) to Northwich Victoria.

Well over 6 foot tall, Neil Tolson is Hyde's top goalscorer this season with 22 goals so far. Now 31 years old he was signed in July 2003 from Halifax Town. Hyde have several other players with football league experience.

Last Saturday Hyde defeated Bamber Bridge 4-0 with goals from Johnson (2),Milligan and McNeil so they know how to score goals.

After last Sunday's excellent result at Aldershot the Bulls should be confident of victory but cup games often bring unexpected results. After all it is only a few weeks ago that Exeter drew at Manchester United.
