Eastwood confirm no illegal players

Suggestions, backed up by the match report on the Official Hereford United website, that the Bulls played an illegal player, Brian Smikle, have been dismissed according to the Official Eastwood Website.

Following rumours on various forums that Hereford United fielded an ineligible player on Saturday, Eastwood Town Football Club has issued the following statement:-

"F.A. Officials have confirmed that all players who took part in the F.A.Trophy game between Eastwood Town FC and Hereford United FC on Saturday 26th February were registered in time to play."

Meanwhile the Derbyshire Telegraph is reporting that Eastwood striker, Deon Meikle, and manager, Bryan Chambers, both face a busy day as they work as car salesmen and it is new car registration day.

Chambers is confident he will be able to arrange delivery of a new batch of Mercedes in time to make the trip - and is hoping 19-year-old Meikle can get away.

"I've had a word with Deon's boss to try and persuade him to let him leave early," said Chambers.

"But I could really do without this."
