Confusion over Northwich and the Conference

There is confusion over whether Northwich Victoria will be playing in the Conference next season.

Earlier this week this site reported that Meanwhile Northwich will be in the Conference next season. Their new ground has passed an inspection by the Conference officials

It now looks as though that report was not strictly correct as the Conference is now suggesting that the rules have been broken not over the ground but over the ownership of the club.

Confguide has a full report on the subject. Part of the article is below.

When the club (Northwich) went into administration last season, the planned route to safety was to transfer the club itself into a new limited company, Northwich Victoria (2004) Ltd. The lease on the ground is owned by this new company. However, it is the old company that remains members of the Nationwide Conference, and the transfer of membership had not been completed by 31st May.

Northwich can appeal to the Football Association, so until that appeal is heard, assuming they lodge one, their fate is uncertain.

Should Northwich lose their place, Forest Green Rovers will remain in the Conference.

Meanwhile the Conference League AGM is on June 11th but it is not clear whether any decision will be made at that meeting if Northwich appeal to the FA.
