Graham Turner, the Hereford United manager, has vowed to play the passing game again next season in an effort to gain promotion from the Conference. In a long article in the Non-League Paper, Turner admits that his side should refrain from too many long balls which may have lost them promotion.
"We are of the belief that it will happen. It's not a question of if, but when and everyone will start the new season full of optimism.
"We paid the penalty last season by losing our way, probably due to lack of experience. But the principles we beleive in will prevail, I can promise you that.
"OK, we missed out at the final hurdle again and it was tough, but that is no reason to abandon what you beleive in. We are averaging crowds of more than 3,000 again and the two seasons of relative success we have had have brought a new generation of supporters.
"You see plenty of Hereford United shirts being worn in the city again and the infrastructure of the club is back on a sound footing, so we must be doing something right."
Turner talked about Ryan Green, who was rumoured to be leaving Edgar Street.
"Ryan has all the attributes to play in the Championship. He had a tremendous start at Wolves and is now beginning to come back. He is still only 24."
And turning to signing new players Turner continued:
"I have been talking to a lot of players and they want to sign for us. I will probably bring in half a dozen, including some experienced ones. Hopefully that will do the trick."
