Crawley go Full-time

Crawley Town football club is going full-time. The announcement was made yesterday just in time for the start of the new season.

Manager Francis Vines is pleased that the transition has been made possible.

"Our performances last season as a part-time club were more than credible and we can be proud of what we achieved. This change will enable us to match up with the major clubs on a level playing field."

Full-time football has come to Crawley Town with some casualties. Allan Tait moved to Conference rivals Canvey Island earlier in the week, John Robinson is joining Lewis whilst fellow strikers Danny Marney and Danny Davidson, formerly with Hereford United, have been placed on the transfer list.

Davidson, at that time a trainee accountant technician by trade, impressed Graham Turner during a trial spell in summer 2001, and joined on the eve of the new season. However, he failed to make an impact in the first team, making only 11 appearances, and after going AWOL at Scarborough in March, Davidson was not seen at Hereford again.
