Wormull Bids For Crawley Manager Post

Crawley caretaker boss Simon Wormull has thrown his hat into the ring after three weeks in temporary charge.

Wormull, 28, was a surprise choice as caretaker after former manager Francis Vines and two assistants left the club in a matter of weeks, and initially denied that he had any long term aspirations on the full time position.

Wormull now says he has an experienced coach lined up to assist him should the Board agree to give him a longer run in charge, but his record so far of one win in three games is not impressive and the Crawley board have indicated that an experienced manager is their target. Jimmy Quinn has openly declared his interest in the job, but the club appear no closer to an appointment.

Wormull could, however, be the key in Crawley's attempts to lure Antony Elding from Stevenage. Wormull spent three years at the Herts club, and spent 18 months in the side with Elding.
