More Football League clubs are facing hard financial times, as two more clubs give notices to bootroom staff.
Gillingham, whose Chairman Paul Scally recently announced that the club were financially safe despite a £7million debt, have given notice to fitness coach Russell Holman and Assistant Physio Paul Timson in a bid to plug a gap in this season's finances. Scally has also backed a player clearout planned by the struggling League One club for the January transfer window.
Macclesfield have also given notice to Assistant Manager John Askey, a 22 year servant of the Moss Rose club. The former Macclesfield player will remain until the end of the season when the post will be scrapped.
Hereford United are one of the few clubs in the lower reaches of professional football to have increased their staff over the last year with the arrival of a dedicated Physio, Wayne Jones, and also the recent addition of a Sports Psychologist.
Meanwhile Cardiff City have acknowledged that, on current gates, they will face a £600,000 shortfall in anticipated income for the current season, adding to an existing £30million debt pile. Monday's gate of 8,724 was their lowest for four years, and more than 4,000 under break-even.
