GLS Pulls Plug On Football Sponsorship

GLS Football, who came onto the scene with a bang by sponsoring a string of clubs, a league, and cup competitions, is to fold at the end of the season.

Owner Victor Gladwish sponsored thirteen non-league sides, including Gravesend, after coming from nowhere in 2003 but the plug will be pulled after the GLS Football company lost £250,000 in the last two years.

GLS sponsored the Hellenic League, which includes Hereford based Pegasus Juniors amongst its ranks, and also the ill-fated and much unloved GLS Cup which survived for one season despite massive unpopularity amongst both Conference clubs and supporters.

Many of the clubs involved are already looking for new sponsors. Gravesend announced on their official website that they had been paid in full for this season, but there was still 12 months to run on the three and a half year deal. The closure of GLS Football will also affect the Non-League Paper, who have received major backing from the company.
