Southport will go full time next season after undergoing a structural review.
Just five clubs remain with part-time status in the Conference National division, with all of them struggling at the wrong end of the division.
"It is abundantly clear that to go forward we have to go full-time," chairman Charlie Clapham told the official Southport website; "It is likely 20 to 22 clubs will be full-time in the Conference next season. The full-time structure for 2006/2007 will be right for the club."
Southport currently lie bottom of the league but are attracting attendances just 150 per match under top side Accrington, who went full time last season.
