Wrexham Stadium Fight Setback

Wrexham have been dealt a blow in their fight for survival after an appeal court judge allowed an appeal over the ownership of the Racecourse stadium by owner Alex Hamilton to be heard.

In October Wrexham and their Administrators, Begbies Traynor, won a High Court action against Hamilton over what was deemed an illegal transfer of the deeds of the stadium to one of Hamilton's companies, CrucialMove.

Now an Appeal Court judge has allowed an appeal to be heard early in the New Year after a hearing today. The decision threatens the future of Wrexham, as the club have until June to come out of Administration before they face being kicked out of the Football League and do not have the ability to do so until a takeover deal is finalised.

Several interested parties, including a consortium of local businessmen including former director Neville Dickins, are waiting in the wings to complete a deal but cannot until the stadium issue is resolved.
