Disappointing gate last night

The attendance at Edgar Street for the visit of Aldershot Town was the lowest for a game between these two clubs for several seasons.

It didn't help that the Arsenal game was on TV and it was cold but Hereford are in the play-offs and Aldershot usually try to play attractive football.

The two games this season have produced gates of 2205 at Edgar Street and 2656 at the Rec. Both were played on Tuesdays.

Last season there were 3647 at Edgar Street and 3749 at the Rec. The game at Edgar Street was also on a Tuesday but the return was a Saturday fixture.

It is unclear why both games this season were Tuesday evening fixtures unless the Police were concerned of possible problems. It may have cost both clubs several thousand in gate receipts.

UPDATE 11am

Club sources say the Police asked for the game to be played on a Tuesday night.
