Bristol City friendly tomorrow

Tomorrow afternoon Hereford United will face Bristol City at Edgar Street in what will be the Bulls fourth pre-season game before battle commences against Stockport on August 5th.

Although conditions are expected to be hot and sticky, Graham Turner will be expecting his squad to step up a gear after the Cup game against Westfields last Tuesday.

The Hereford United manager will be able to use trialists at this game. In addition to the signed players only Alan Connell and Karl Lewis were used against Westfields.

Turner told supporters last Monday that four of the trialists had been released so it's assumed that several new faces will be on show tomorrow.

Bristol City are currently managed by Gary Johnson who took over the job last September when he moved from Yeovil. Johnson and Turner are old rivals from their days in the Conference. It was Johnson who used to pick-up Hereford United players for next to nothing when Turner was short of cash and had little option than to sell several of his better players. Gavin Williams and Michael McIndoe were two such players.

Johnson's move to Bristol City came as a surprise to Yeovil fans as he had guided them from the Conference to League One, but, as Johnson said at the time, Bristol City is a bigger club. It is thought that johnson knew he had done all he could at the Somerset club and was eager for a new challenge.

Last season Bristol City finished nineth in League One whilst Yeovil were fifteenth.

To date Bristol City have played several friendlies with local (to them) clubs since returning from a short tour of Latvia. The main one of note was against Forest Green which resulted in a 6-0 win.

"The Hereford friendly will be the main match this week, with mostly first team players involved. However, they won't quite get a full 90 minutes, that will come against Southampton and Shrewsbury Town," Johnson told his website.

The friendly starts at 3pm and admission is £8 for adults and £4 for concessions in any part of the ground.
