One of the trialists this evening was named as Alan Jones but it is thought he was Alan Connell.
Connell is a 23 year old forward from Torquay. He joined the Gulls from Bournemouth last summer for a small fee, and was their top scorer until injury ruled him out for nearly three months at the end of October. He is believed to have rejected new terms at Plainmoor, but it is not known whether a fee would be expected for the player.
