Chester boss Mark Wright has been dealt injury blows that could see two of his new signing miss the early season trip to Edgar Street.
Defender Phil Bolland may require surgery on a shoulder injury that forced him out of their 2-0 defeat to Stoke last night, and midfielder Glen Cronin has broken a metatarsal in training and is likely to miss three months.
In other news, former Bulls loanee Nicky Nicolau played the first half of Barnet's 1-0 win over Hitchin. Opening day opponents Stockport finished third in the San-Am tournament in Spain. They lost their opening game to Scunthorpe 1-0, but were beating a local amateur side 3-0 when a Spanish player assaulted a linesman and the game was abandoned. Stockport played the first game with ex-Bull Michael Rose as full back, with fellow ex-Bull Mark Robinson ahead of him in a midfield role. Swindon beat Forest Green 3-2 with a debut goal for ex-Cambridge striker Fola Onibuje.
Meanwhile, Bulls striker Tim Sills is a surprise option on the official Conference website poll. The poll, which asks fans which of five players will have the most impact on the Conference, lists Sills alongside Dean Sturridge, Phil Gilchrist, Marcus Gayle, and David McGurk. Unsurprisingly, since Conference fans seemingly pay more attention than the people running the Conference, Sills is in last place in the poll with 8% of the vote.
