Stuart Fleetwood is expected to miss the away game at Rochdale on Saturday as he has been called up for the Wales under 21 squad.
Wales play Turkey on Saturday at Ninian Park in a European qualifier.
The news, in this morning's Hereford Times, is said to have annoyed Hereford United manager Graham Turner.
"I am livid. I think it is outrageous that he can be called up so late, on a Wednesday, when it is us who pay his wages, particularly when we will probably end up sitting on the substitutes bench."
Andy Williams is expected to take Fleetwoods place. Tamika Mkandawire is also expected to play despite missing some training earlier this week with his slight hamstring injury.
Meanwhile the paper says that Turner 'declined to comment' on speculation linking Williams with a possible bid from Bristol Rovers.
UPDATE - The Western Daily Press reports that Turner has rejected a £100,000 bid from Rovers for Williams.
