Halifax Face Another Survival Fight

Halifax Town are set to face another survival fight after the town's Rugby League side announced it had three weeks to stave off liquidation.

The pair share The Shay stadium, each paying half of the £9,400 monthly rent. Should the rugby club go under, the football club would be unable to find the additional resources to cover the bills on the stadium as it is already losing over £3,000 a week according to their Supporters Trust.

The rugby club has told it's members that an EGM will be held on September 11th to vote on the closure of the company after the budget soared by £70,000 and gates plummeted. It has announced that it requires a 5,000 plus gate - three times it's previous home gate - at the next home match to survive.

Should the rugby club fail, the future of the Shaymen will be placed in jeopardy with no alternative to cover the other half of the rent on the Council owned stadium.
