Darlington are top of the early table after 4-0 win over Macclesfield, with Barry Conlon scoring a hat-trick. Peterboro also had a comfortable win, beating Bristol Rovers 4-1 - for whom Ryan Green made a belated debut with a 15 minute sub appearance.
Chester beat Accrington 2-0 with goals from Drewe Broughton and Gregg Blundell, while Grimsby beat Boston 3-2. MK Dons beat Bury 2-1, and Swindon beat Hartlepool 1-0. Torquay and Walsall also recorded 1-0 wins, against Barnet and Rochdale respectively.
There were also three draws today - Shrewsbury and Mansfield shared four goals at Gay Meadow, Tuesday's opponents Lincoln drew 1-1 with Notts County, and Wrexham and Wycombe also drew 1-1.
