Comparisons between Graham Turner and Niall Quinn have been made in the press today.
Quinn has been trying to manage Sunderland whilst being chairman without much success.
This from the Western Mail:
When managers get sacked it doesn't usually take too long for them to start whining about 'that interfering chairman' who was the root cause of all the problems.
But when your name is Niall Quinn you can't trot out that time-honoured excuse for failure.
Why? Because Quinny was both manager and chairman at Sunderland, who endured a disastrous season in the Premiership last year before being relegated.
This week, after a fifth successive defeat to start the season - a humiliating Carling Cup exit at the hands of Bury - the former Republic of Ireland international showed himself the red card.
It didn't take Quinn long to find out what the rest of us already guessed - you can try all you like to wear two hats, but getting both to fit is nigh on impossible.
Usually there is one exception to most rules and in this case maybe Graham Turner is the one to prove it.
Hereford's return to the Football League at the end of last season was a triumph for the man who has managed to wear two hats with a degree of success.
Ironically, Turner never fancied being a manager/chairman, he just took on both roles by default when he almost single-handedly saved the club from extinction.
Now in his 11th season at Edgar Street, Turner has been holding down both jobs for all but three of them.
Maybe Quinny was a little too hasty in writing his own P45.
