Wilson hoping to spark into life

Danny Wilson has told Hartlepool Today that the victory in the Carling Cup over Burnley last night will kick start things for the season. Hartlepool travel to Edgar Street on the weekend after an excellent away win last night at Turf Moor, and will be looking to get their first league win on board after a disappointing start to their League Two campaign.

"Hopefully this will kick-start things. We got that monkey off our back with the goal last Saturday and now we have scored a penalty and got this first win away from home.So hopefully this will be a massive confidence boost and we can build on it.We go to Hereford on Saturday, and they are on the back of a good win as well last night and will be full of confidence. But if we can perform like last night then we will give ourselves a chance." said Wilson

Hartlepool have just two points so far, but have already played promotion chasers Swindon and Walsall, losing both without scoring a goal. A draw at Macclesfield in the middle of the Swindon and Walsall games, saw Pool gain their first point with a goalless draw. Last Saturday, Hartlepool managed to grab their first goal of the season, with a late equaliser from Lee Bullock to seal a home draw against Torquay.

Meanwhile, Rob Purdie has said that Hereford need to maintain the high level of performance reached in last night's win over Coventry, and continue it into Saturday's encounter with Hartlepool.

"We go into Hartlepool now, if we play like we did against Barnet, we're going to lose 3-0 at home, we can't do that. This was a perfect game for us after Saturday, there was no real pressure on us, we could get the ball down and pass it, if we don't take it into Saturday's game, then there was no point in playing like that. Now that we've done it for the first time this season, we need to get it down and pass it, and I am confident now we can take that into the league," Purdie told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
