Evans Pleads Guilty To Fraud

Boston boss Steve Evans has pleaded guilty to fraud at his trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Evans, who is on trial with four others, denied the charges when the case was first heard in January and again yesterday when the trial started but changed his mind on the second day of the trial.

The case is expected to last four weeks. Former chairman Pat Malkinson has also changed his plea, but the club's former accountants Ian Lee and Brian James, plus current General Manager John Blackwell, all deny the charges.

Evans was originally banned for 20 months for his part in the illegal payments to players that assisted Boston's rise into the Football League. The initial Football League inquiry led to the current investigation and court case.
