Burton have exploited an apparent loophole in the transfer window system to sign former Peterboro midfielder Paul Carden.
Carden, who was released by Peterboro last week, would normally be unable to play for Burton until January as both clubs are subject to the transfer window. However, manager Nigel Clough has found an interesting loophole with the player signing for Unibond League side Burscough, who are not subject to the window, before immediately loaning the player to Burton until January - apparently a perfectly legal move under current regulations. Burscough's official site does not list the signing of the player despite having been updated since the weekend, with the Carden signing being completed in time for the player to feature for Burton at the weekend.
Clough is also planning a similar move for ex-Bull Daryl Taylor, who was released by Bury two weeks ago and is subject to the same rules as Carden.
