Grimsby have released Peter Beagrie by mutual consent, practically ending the career of the oldest outfield player in the Football League. The 40 year old, one month short of his 41st birthday, played 778 times in a career that started in 1983.
Torquay are set to release veteran midfielder Darren Garner, citing his age as the main reason. Garner, 34, joined the club in 2005 but was only given a three month deal at the start of this season. Shrewsbury have extended the contract of striker Michael Symes until the end of the season. Symes, with 5 goals in 12 games, signed from Bradford initially on loan but agreed full terms shortly after.
