Graham Turner is not alone in finding loan signings hard to find of the quality required at Edgar Street.
Neil Maddison, the caretaker Darlington manager, is finding the same problem.
His words, from the Northern Echo, could have been spoken by the Hereford United manager.
"We won't sign players just to fill gaps. We have got to get players in who are going to be better than what we have got," said Maddison.
"We could panic and get any player but it is not like that at all.
"There'd be no point in going out and signing a Joe Bloggs who doesn't do a decent job. We've got to get a player in who will do well.
"It's not just been this past week, for the past month we've been looking but it's has become more apparent now that it is vital that we need someone.
"We are doing an awful lot of scouting. Myself and Martin (Grey -chief coach) are going to games all this week to look at players.
"I have been on the phone all day, ringing clubs, managers, coaches and agents non-stop and it is so much hard work. I've got a list of players but for one reason or another many are unavailable.
"It seems like every player is either injured or not available.
"There are also a lot of clubs that have their own injury problems so they won't let their players out but we are still looking.
"Even if we get just one it would be fantastic. We'll keep working on it until we get someone in.
"Martin's got a lot of contacts, I've got a lot of contacts and you rely on them.
"A lot of managers we have rang would like to help but the player we have wanted is injured so we cannot have them."
