Turner's reaction to defeat

Graham Turner spoke to Sky Sports after this afternoon's game against Grimsby.

"There were times we played it reasonably well, passed it quite well," said the Hereford United manager.

"We had to counter their long ball game. We knew their full backs would get out from time to time. I felt we had the ball in good positions and failed to make the most of it.

"To be fair we were very naive particularly for the winning goal. We hadn't got a shape at all and to play a ball into midfield like that was just suicidal.

"We lost a game. We've got a young side. You've got to try and keep spirits up. That's the important thing for us at the moment."

Sky pundit Steve Claridge also commented on the Hereford performance.

"I think Hereford will take an understanding that, yet again, they've shown that they can compete at this level. I think for them where they are now will be fine."

The PA stats for the game show Hereford had more shots than Grimsby (14 to 12) but less on target (6 to 10).

Fleetwood was given an 8, all the other Hereford players were given a 6.

As usual Hereford committed fewer fouls (7 against 12 by Grimsby).
