Cup win would brings both presteige and finance

Graham Turner still gets excited about the FA Cup. His Hereford United squad travel to Shrewsbury tomorrow morning for the noon kick-off.

"I have been in the game a long time but the FA Cup still gets me and everyone else going," he told the Shropshire Star.

"It's the best competition to be involved in and the dream of everyone is to get to the third round and pull out a big draw.

"While we were in the Conference, Burton and Exeter both got drawn against Manchester United so it's possible.

"As a manager I'm excited about it because of all the prestige that goes with a good run - and as a chairman it's the financial side of it which is appealing."

Meanwhile Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters has been talking to his official website about the game.

"It's a super FA Cup tie against Hereford and I don't think we could have got a better tie other than Wrexham or Walsall. It will be a tough game, we beat them in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy the other week and they've won ever game since then and gone from strength to strength. They've got good form on the road and have won away at Swindon and MK Dons and you don't get a result at either of those sides easily" said Peters.

"It also brings back one of the all time heroes of Shrewsbury Town in Graham Turner.

"The game is a challenge for our supporters as there are going to be a lot of Hereford fans here and we know when opposition supporters travel they try to make more noise than the home fans.

"We know that Hereford think of themselves as FA Cup giant killers and will want to progress so they can keep that tradition going."
