Bury have been charged with the FA over fielding an ineligible player in their FA Cup win over Chester.
On loan Hartlepool midfielder Stephen Turnbull is believed to not have had the correct clearance to play in last Tuesday's replay win. He was originally ineligible as Hartlepool did not want the player cup tied, but the Pools lost to Macclesfield in the FA Cup ten days before and Hartlepool gave verbal permission for the 20 year old to feature in the replay.
The FA, however, require a player to have written permission, and Bury now face a Challenge Cup Sub Committee on Wednesday to face charges of fielding an ineligible player. Bury could face a fine, be ordered to replay the game in question, or be thrown out of the competition. The club drew a potentially lucrative tie with Ipswich in Round Three.
