A visible reduction in the numbers of Police was noticable around the Gay Meadow today.
This wasn't surprising given that only about 500 (later confirmed as 692) Hereford supporters were at today's game.
However, according to the Shropshire Star, football fans were made to walk through mobile metal detectors at Shrewsbury Station in an attempt to cut down 'knife-related railway crime'.
No trouble was reported before or during the game other than a few verbals between seated fans.
Meanwhile Gary Peters, the Shrewsbury manager, was in a hurry to get away from the ground after the game.
He was destined for today's 3pm kick-off at Wrexham where Walsall were the visitors. Shrewsbury play at Walsall after Christmas.
