Very disappointed says Connell

Hereford United's Alan Connell told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the players were very disappointed at dropping points this afternoon.

"We were desparate for the three points. We played okay in patches today but it was not as consistant as we have been. I don't know why. At least we got a point.

"We tried to lift the tempo. Probably after fifteeen/twenty minutes we starting getting going, Alex got a very good goal, we started to play a bit more and looked a better side.

"At half time the manager got into us a little bit, told us it wasn't good enough and we had to step it up and we did."

Connell described the Hereford penalty:

"I went up for it and got pushed down. It was a blatant penalty."

When later the referee pointed to the spot for a Torquay penalty he was surrounded by Hereford players. Eventually he talked to his assistant and awarded a drop kick inside the box.Connell had been subbed so saw what happened from the dug-out:

"It was pretty obvious that their player had tripped another player

"The fourth official could see it and the other linesman. Something needed to be said. If it wasn't for our players that would probably have been a Torquay penalty."
