We looked like a Sunday Pub Team

Port Vale websites have started to report the result at Edgar Street this afternoon.

Here's a little from their 'Vital' site report:

We looked like a Sunday league pub team. Our defending was idiotic - Colin Miles and George Abbey were both utterly useless. Clayton Fortune wasn't much better. Paul Harsley (stand in right-back and stand-in Captain) at least looked like he was trying.

Tim Sills fouled by Vale keeper which led to Rob Purdie's penalty goal - picture by Andy Compton of the Hereford Journal.

The midfield was completely overrun by our Div.2 opponents. Whitaker, Sonner, Gardner, Smith all offered nothing.

Up front Constantine and Moore had no kind of service at all. When they did get the ball in the Hereford penalty box nothing came of it, Stefan Moore looked clueless with the ball at his feet.

and there's more:

Hereford finished it off on 83 minutes as they carved through Vale again to make the final score 4-0. At this point Vale players decided to fight amongst themselves, the most lively they looked all game.
