Speculation that Hereford may have been interested in signing Burton Albion's Lee Fowler has come to light partly from postings on Burton's forum.
23 year old Cardiff born Fowler is a midfielder. Previously with Scarborough, he started his career at Coventry.
Until New Year he had played in most games for Burton this season. However it appears he has fallen out of favour with manager Nigel Clough.
The Burton Mail reported last month that Fowler, a Welsh non-league international, had attracted interest from League Two clubs but didn't mention Hereford United.
It seems that Hereford spoke to Fowler a couple of weeks ago. Whether any deal was in the offering is unclear but later Hereford were said to have come back to the player having decided not to proceed.
It could be that during this time Ben Smith became available and no doubt Graham Turner thought Smith was a better prospect than Fowler. In any case Fowler is understood to require a hernia operation this summer.
