ESG Ltd launch Retail Quarter project

ESG (Edgar Street Grid) Herefordshire Ltd have today published a press statement which reveals that they are mailing a 'prestigious sales brochure' to possible developers inviting them to show interest in a new 12.5 acre 'Retail Quarter' which will be based on the site of the soon to be demolished Hereford livestock market.

This project is the first phase of the redevelopment of a much larger area which includes the Hereford United football ground.

The 'Retail Quarter' which will include shops, leisure outlets and more than 150 new homes is expected to have a 'completed investment value' of between £150m and £200m.

In the press statement ESG Ltd confirm that Hereford United are staying at Edgar Street.

The development will also include over 1000 homes in a new Blackfriars Village, as well as a proposed new Civic Quarter. Hereford United, newly promoted to Division 2, will retain its Edgar Street ground within the site. Work on the Retail Quarter, comprising a mix of offices, new homes, niche retail together with bars and restaurants, is due to start by 2010.

Developers are charged with ensuring that the area acheives 'integration with the historic core of the city'.

Today's publicity is to co-inside with the prestigious MIPIM conference in the South of France later this month. MIPIM is one of the largest real estate and property shows in the world.

The Hereford development will be promoted at the conference by, amidst others, Top Gear's Richard Hammond.
