Ex-Bull Says Gulls Spirits High

Former Bulls' defender Mark Robinson says spirits in the Torquay camp are high despite their fight to stave off relegation almost being a lost cause.

Robinson spent a single season at Edgar Street, playing 44 times. He rejoined former mentor Chris Turner at Stockport in the summer of 2005 and was feted as one of the few bright points in an otherwise dismal season. 'Robbo' fell out of favour during the current season under Jim Gannon and opted for a transfer window move to strugging Torquay.

On the plight of his current side, Robbo said: "After the way we beat Grimsby 4-1 and then Wycombe 3-0, it's a bit disheartening for us to be in the position we are. Until it's mathematically impossible for us to stay up, we're going to give it everything we've got.

"The Shrewsbury lads were saying last Saturday (when the Shrews won 1-0) that they've played a lot worse sides than us this season, and they're not the only ones who have said that. There's still a good team spirit here, and the training is good."

The Bulls travel to Plainmoor on the last day of the season, but most pundits expect the game to be nothing more than a swansong for the Gulls.
