Westfields game is on

Tomorrow evening's game at Westfields is on despite the club having its stand burnt down early on Sunday morning.

Repairs to the flood light cables have been carried out this afternoon and so the Herefordshire Senior Floodlit Cup semi-final game goes ahead.

Kick-off is at 7.30pm.

It will be the first time Hereford United have played at their neighbours new ground.

UPDATE 6pm: Andy Morris, the Westfields chief executive, has spoken to BBC Hereford and Worcester about the cup game.

"We've got Hereford United here tomorrow night which is the biggest game we shall host in the history of the club. We expect a big crowd.

"We are very determined to play the game.

"We had an opportunity to swap the game to Edgar Street but we would like to take advantage of the home draw and play the game here on our own park."

Morris has also spoken about how the local community has rallied around.

"We have had a great response from the public because of the loss of the stand. We are going to get a lot of people up to support us," he told the Worcester News.

"We have had to dig trenches all the way around the ground. It's been a real Challenge Anneka-style effort.

"New cables have been fitted. The engineers did not allow us to turn the lights on until we had done that."
